San Francisco - Palace of Fine Arts
The Palace of Fine Arts was built for the Panama Pacific Exposition in 1915.It was built of wood and covered in staff, a mixture of burlap and plaster. It was meant to last a year and collapse. But San Franciscans knew a good thing when they saw it.
The Exploratorium is now built behind the Palace to provide a draw for tourists and locals alike.
