San Francisco Streetcars

People usually think of the cable cars when they think of San Francisco. But my favorite are the historical streetcars that ring their way up and down Market Street and the Embarcadero. I like that they are from all around the world.

Blanche DuBois would point out that they are a charming way to get from the Castro to Fisherman's Wharf.

The San Francisco route has a less romantic name than the ones on which Blanche metaphorically rode through life.
They told me to take a streetcar named Desire, and then transfer to one called Cemeteries and ride six blocks and get off at Elysian Fields.
Still, the "F" Market line seems aptly named for both ends of its route. Blanche would have fit in fine in San Francisco.

Be forewarned, though. The F Line is very crowded from Fisherman's Wharf to the Stockton Street/Union Square stop. But it is a more enjoyable way to go down Market than a bus or the subway.
